Recent KKB attacks are still happening. Papua’s KKB terrorists are targeting project company employees in the Papua region. Quoting detik. com, an attack occurred in Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua on Wednesday (2/3/2022) at around 03.00 WIT. Then the latest attack occurred again on Tuesday (8/3) yesterday afternoon in Kumbalagupa Village, Sugapa District. The attack also targeted workers on the housing construction project for the Intan Jaya Regional Government Social Service. “It’s true that there was an OTK attack on the social worker at around 09.00 WIT,” Kombes Ahmad Mustofa Kamal said in his statement, Tuesday (8/3/2022).
The project worker who became a victim was a man with the initials AK, who was stabbed in the back, causing injuries to his upper back with a length of 16-centimeter and a depth of five centimeters. “There is a wound on the back of the victim’s neck, at this time the victim is being referred to Nabire,” Kamal said.
After attacking the victim, the KKB terrorist immediately fled towards the ravine. Meanwhile, AK’s colleagues who were at the location of the attack immediately fled as soon as they found out that AK was attacked by KKB members.
DUE TO THE KKB’S TERROR, THE CONSTRUCTION OF TWO BRIDGE UNITS HAD TO BE STOPPED. THE PROJECT ON THE TWO BRIDGE UNITS IN KALI KUK AND KALI WIT IS INCLUDED IN THE TRANS PAPUA PROJECT, WHICH IS ONE OF THE NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROGRAMS THAT WILL OPEN UP PAPUA’S ISOLATION.
The violent acts carried out by the KKB also targeted Bingky Village, Seradala District and resulted in the delay of infrastructure development. Due to the KKB’s terror, the construction of two bridge units had to be stopped.
The project on the two bridge units in Kali Kuk and Kali Wit is included in the Trans Papua project, which is one of the national strategic programs that will open up Papua’s isolation. Head of the Wamena Road and Bridge Implementation Center, Zepnat Kambu, said the budget for the construction of the two projects reached Rp 44 billion. “Yes, it is true that this is included in the Trans Papua road project as the segment from the beginning until the incident is safe,” Kambu said, when contacted by telephone, Monday (28/6/2021).
According to him, the locations of the two bridges are at KM 42+200 and at KM 54+200. Meanwhile, the attack by the KKB occurred at KM 54. The ongoing KKB action has seriously disrupted a number of strategic government projects in Papua. In fact, the government has a strong commitment to encourage equitable development to reduce inequality or disparities between the western region of Indonesia (KBI) and eastern Indonesia (KTI), one of which is on the island of Papua.
Through infrastructure development carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, the government is working hard to reduce the level of inequality and poverty that exists in this paradise land. This is in line with the government’s Nawa Cita of developing Indonesia from the peripheries by strengthening regions and villages within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
On the other hand, the government also protects Indonesia’s national interests in border areas, strengthens Indonesia’s economic competitiveness globally, and increases the capacity of regions in providing public services. So, there is no other way but a strong commitment of eradicating the KKB until its roots.
