Papuan Police Chief affirms legal sanctions for people who cause lawlessness

West papua News – The Papuan regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri emphasized that his party will apply the law if there are people who make lawlessness or create an unfavorable situation and lead to violence in Papua.he will also disperse crowds of people who are finding desperate to take to the streets to stage demonstrations.

Previously, the people who are members of the Papuan People’s Coalition planned to hold demonstrations at various points in Jayapura to highlight the polemic that is happening in the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov).“It will not give permission to hold rallies or cause large crowds.

If there are people who will do that, then we from the police will disperse them, ”said Fakhiri to reporters after a limit-ed meeting with the Papua Province’ regional leader Coordinating Forum(Forkopimda), religious leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders, and the Ministry of home Affairs in Jayapura, Sunday (27/6/2021).

According to Fakhiri, in the current situation, activities that cause large crowds are prohibited. This prohibition is carried out to anticipate the trans-mission of the Covid-19 virus in the land of Papua.

regarding the polemic in the Papua Provincial Government, Fakhiri said the Ministry of home Affairs (Kemendagri) had explained the reasons behind the appointment of the Papuan regional Secretary, Dance yulian Flassy as the Daily Executor (Plh) of the Governor of Papua. He hopes that the public can understand and not take harmful actions Meanwhile, at the same time, the head of the Information Center (Kepuspen) of the Ministry of home affairs, Benni Irwan, asked the Civilian State Apparatus (ASN) in the Papua Provincial Government not to hold demonstrations. If it is found that ASN is involved in the demonstration, then his office will act decisively by giving sanctions according to applicable regulations.

“For ASN, if you take part in the demonstration, there are already rules, so it is hoped that the staff development officer will convey this, if the rules are violated, they will be subject to sanctions,” said Benni.

Benni has also provided an explanation regarding the reasons behind the appointment of the regional Secretary of Papua, Dance yulian Flassy as the Acting Governor of Papua.  According to him, the appointment was in accordance with the applicable procedures and provisions based on law number 23 of 2014 concerning the regional Government (Pemda).

As it is known, the Papua provincial government is currently in a chaotic atmosphere regarding the appoint-ment of a Daily Executor for Governor. When the Ministry of home Affairs appointed regional Secretary (Sek-da) Dance yulian Flassy as the Daily Executor (Plh) of the Governor of Papua, Papua Governor lukas Enembe through his spokesman said he did not accept the appointment.
