Police Force Disband West Papua National Committee
West Papua News 2021, Jayapura Police personnel forcibly dispersed the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) mass who were demonstrating demanding the release of Victor Yeimo. The demonstration was carried out without a permit.
The KNPB demonstration took place at two points, namely in the Uncen campus area of the Abepuran district and Perumnas III Waena, Heram District, Jayapura City, Monday (16/8/2021).
“The demonstration carried out by the KNPB was not in accordance with the rules issued by the Jayapura City Government which prohibits demonstrations during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we disbanded it,” said Jayapura City Police Chief, Kombes Gustav R. Urbinas in Jayapura, Monday (16/8/). 2021).

Urbinas explained that the demonstration was disbanded and asked for the group to disband, so that it would not interfere with the activities of the community and the general public.
In the midst of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the government has clearly prohibited mass pursuit actions, including demonstrations. So whatever the reason is not allowed demo at this time. During the disbandment, the demonstrators had time to fight against the security forces, so firm action was taken by force using water cannons.
“When we disbanded they resisted so that the members had to take firm action to repulse the group, so as not to cause a commotion in the community,” said Kombes Gustav Urbinas. Meanwhile, from the KNPB group through his head, Agus Kosay said the demonstration was to demand the release of Victor Yeimo who was arrested by the police for the 2019 riot case, where Victor Yeimo was accused of being the main perpetrator.
